A Plush Pup in the Nation's Capitol

On Friday Wendell's foster mom Melynda took him with her to Chateau-Animaux, a pet supply store on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. We parked right across the street from the Marine Commandant's House, which is part of the Marine Barracks. These are the Marines assigned to guard the President and White House as well as fly the Marine One helicopter.

Wendell's foster mom tried to snap his photo in front of the Commandant's House, but a Marine in full-dress uniform (with a big scary rifle!) ran up and told us to move along! We explained that Wendell was a pawtite plush pup on a mission, not explosive (and that he was probably related to some explosives-sniffing hounds), but we had to move along.

We went to Chateau-Animaux to pick up food for my foster sisters, Becky and Lilly. It's a great place with a friendly staff. I checked out the leashes and other great items.

Then I got a quick grooming before checking out the amazing bakery case of special doggie treats (including the one-of-a-kind Washington Nationals Baseball cookies). I even met a giant dinosaur.
